Health ConditionsTreatment of Guttate PsoriasisBecause guttate psoriasis may be triggered by a bacterial infection, antibiotics may help prevent additional outbreaks by stopping the infection from recurring. Antibiotics work in various ways. They will either halt the growth and reproduction of bacteria or directly damage the bacteria, thereby causing the bacteria's death. Topical medications may help mild to moderate cases of guttate therapy, but phototherapy may be needed to help relieve an outbreak. In severe cases when relief is needed quickly, a physician may need to prescribe oral medications.
