Talking with your healthcare provider

Women should be involved in their own healthcare in all stages of life, including peri- and postmenopause. Perimenopausal women should talk with their doctors about postmenopausal hormone replacement therapy and possible alternatives. Although each woman will have individual concerns, examples of general questions that may be asked include:

  • Should I take estrogen and/or progesterone?
  • What is the best dose for me?
  • Do I need to take ERT or HRT for the rest of my life?
  • Am I at risk for osteoporosis?
  • What other therapies are available for me?
