Low Molecular Weight Heparins

Low molecular weight heparins are a modified type of heparin used to prevent blood clots from forming. They work by stopping the formation of substances in the blood that cause clots. While low molecular weight heparins are given by injection, they do not require as much monitoring as heparin, and thus can often be given to patients at home.
