Cystic Fibrosis

Introduction

Breathing and eating are functions that most individuals do without thinking. Individuals with cystic fibrosis (CF), however, must pay careful attention to even basic body functions. Due to a defect in their genetic structure, CF patients must deal with the adversely affected organ systems of their body in order to sustain life. As the most common life-threatening, genetically-inherited disorder in Caucasian Americans, CF causes an array of health problems ranging from nutritional deficiencies to lung damage.
